When I studied Engineering at the University, gold plating - the practice of getting more and more details into your software -, was regarded as a bad software engineering practice. I argue that has now been reverted completely.

So, what do you think will be the platform for Web 3.0? (Yes, I know, I’m such an original guy…)
Ok, but the question is still relevant. Do you think it will be:
Adobe Flex
Microsoft Silverlight
OpenLaszlo
Sun JavaFX
Plain AJAX

What makes JavaFX special
Sun’s JavaFX came with much lesser press than […]

I am still trying to figure it out: Is Silverlight another big waste of money from Microsoft, or the next big bump on the road for Linux on the desktop?
Silverlight is Microsoft’s new cross-browser, ‘cross-platform’ plug-in for delivering multimedia and rich interactive applications (RIA) on the Web.
Doubtless, Silverlight will have advantages over its competitors (Adobe’s […]

This is good news for Java Developer Shops. From the JBoss “Exadel Partnership FAQ” page:
Why is this significant for developers?
For the first time, developers will have access to a high caliber Eclipse-based development environment that is available entirely in open source. Red Hat Developer Studio provides an advanced, enterprise-level Web application development environment for leveraging […]
