Pandora has been getting a lot of press this past weeks over its new services. They have signed deals with USA mobile providers Sprint and Sonos, and have revamped their Web Site.
All that development is quite impressive, but to me it still feels like the company is doomed. And it all has to do -obviously- […]

Warning: this post has little geek content!
If you got to know me before last summer, you would never have expected this post. You would have never suspected that Calle 13 was my favorite reggaeton band. That’s because I listen mostly to jazz, rock, and punk bands, and Calle 13 is the only reggaeton band I […]

2007 might be remembered for the year Google finally lost its mojo. This past months, peaking this week, Google has been getting an ever higher heat.
Some of the critics that I have come across lately are:
Privacy concerns
This is one of the oldest, more persistent, and probably best founded concern. Google is, no doubt, collecting a […]

Google is starting to roll out a new feature for Gmail that allows the users to view attached Power Point presentations on-line. This is clearly part of ‘Presently’; Google’s take on PowerPoint. Last post was, unfortunately, a false alarm, as Ioannus pointed out in the comments.
At first glance, the feature might not impress much, and […]

Read/WriteWeb had a very interesting article of a new Web Office; ShareOffice, part of SalesForce’s AppExchange.
But the thing that caught my attention, after reading through the comments, was a screenshot of the Presentations tool. Its look and feel resembles Google Docs so much that it is hard to believe that it is not, in […]

JavaFX was presented yesterday at the JavaOne Conference.

JavaFX and the other RIA players are trying to step upon recent AJAX applications success.
What makes JavaFX special
Sun’s JavaFX came with much lesser press than […]

The following is one of the funniest things I ever got by e-mail. After a Google search, I found it is all over the Web already. So it is not news, but just my echo of an accurate, helpful factual list.
It is recommended you read forward only if you ever at least attempted to […]

I checked today and, effectively, Pandora’s technical staff blocked the site for most countries. This is how the site looks like in Uruguay (click on the image to view in full size):
What to do now
There are articles on how to access Pandora from outside the US already. Basically, it tells you to use a […]

Pandora, a great music streaming service, is to be discontinued for every country, save USA an UK.
I just got this letter from Pandora:
Dear Pandora listener,
Today we have some extremely disappointing news to share with you. Due to international licensing constraints, we are deeply, deeply sorry to say that we must begin proactively preventing […]

I am still trying to figure it out: Is Silverlight another big waste of money from Microsoft, or the next big bump on the road for Linux on the desktop?
Silverlight is Microsoft’s new cross-browser, ‘cross-platform’ plug-in for delivering multimedia and rich interactive applications (RIA) on the Web.
Doubtless, Silverlight will have advantages over its competitors (Adobe’s […]
